CF patients and their families often face impossible financial choices during extended hospital stays. Our Extended Hospital Stay Grant program helps cover rent or mortgage payments so families can keep a roof over their heads while focusing on recovery.
This program was created by our founder, Claire, when she was just 13 years old, after witnessing firsthand the stress families endure during long hospitalizations. Since then, we’ve supported over 600 families and individuals through this fund. Sadly Claire passed away in 2018 but we carry her legacy forward. Our goal is to offer peace of mind during an incredibly difficult time, to allow a parent to sit by their child’s bedside or a patient to rest and heal without the added weight of housing insecurity. We also hope each grant reminds them they’re not alone, we’re all in this together.
MEET OUR 2026 CF AMBASSADOR
Massimo, a spunky 11 year old living with cystic fibrosis, is our 2025 CF Ambassador for this years Glow Ride. His mother, former Mayor of Hermosa Beach Stacey Armato and the rest of his family and community are excited to support him.
Our amazing friends and founding Glow Ride Sponsor Hermosa Cyclery has you covered! Use the link below to reserve a complimentary beach cruiser that you can pick up and return at the event!

Support children and adults living with cystic fibrosis, build brand awareness in the South Bay and Los Angeles communities. Multiple sponsorship levels available. Please email melissa@clairesplacefoundation.org to learn more.
Claire’s Place Foundation was created from the heart, Claire Wineland's heart, and continues to grow because of the love, generosity, and resilience of the cystic fibrosis community.
This video captures the spirit of Claire’s legacy and the real impact we’re making every day through our programs. From emergency grants during extended hospital stays to career readiness through our Work Proudly Program, and quick action during crises like the LA wildfires, we’re here to be the village for families facing CF.
Together, we’re carrying Claire’s light forward.
Hermosa Ride: We will meet just North of the Hermosa Beach Pier in the sand at the boardwalk, you can't miss us. Look for our Claire's Place Foundation EZ Up near the surfer statue.
It's always a bear at the beach. There is a parking garage a block away bas well as street parking.
Hermosa Ride: In an effort to keep our event as environmentally friendly as possible, we recommend that all of our guests bring their own reusable water container. We will have water available for refills. Waiting on snack sponsors! Know someone? Please email melissa@clairesplacefoundation.org
We will have volunteers helping everyone get their glow on at the event in Hermosa Beach. Feel free to bring your own glow things if you have something fun. The sillier, the better! Shorts or comfortable pants and maybe a hoodie for when the sun sets.
Our ride will begin promptly at 7:30pm or a touch later to get the full glow effect. We will ride from the Hermosa Beach Pier to the Manhattan Beach Pier and back. Approx 3 miles on flat, easy boardwalk, great for all ages and skill levels
