Created to honor Claire, the hospital playrooms carry on her legacy of compassion by providing pediatric patients with a bright, functional space for a wide range of activities, games and play therapy. Working alongside the hospital’s Child Life Specialists, we ensure all playrooms are age and developmentally appropriate.
Planned and guided by Claire, the overall design of each playroom is carefully crafted to meet the unique needs of children who spend extended periods of time in the hospital. The young patients have access to expertly designed playrooms offering a wide range of features thanks to a partnership with Zappos for Good, a dedicated department focused on the online retailer’s community and charitable efforts.
The inspiration behind the character Stella Grant and her beautifully decorated hospital room in the movie Five Feet Apart was Claire Wineland. Claire created safe and comfortable spaces in hospitals, mainly her own hospital room.
