Letter of Intent

This is Melissa Yeager and I am the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Claire’s Place Foundation. Our mission is to provide heart-felt help to and improve the quality of life for children and young adults with cystic fibrosis (CF) and their families. By raising awareness, providing education, skills, financial and emotional support, we believe we make the entire family’s life a little happier and perhaps their difficult journey a little easier. Our late founder, my daughter Claire Wineland, was dedicated to raising awareness about this disease and inspired a worldwide following prior to her passing in 2018.

Today, thanks to medical breakthroughs, life expectancy and lung function continue to improve for those with CF. However, with this joy comes more financial strain as many patients face losing their Social Security Disability Insurance income and need to find a way to support themselves financially. Caregivers and adult patients need flexible, mobile jobs that allow them to continue working while dealing with the intense regimen of care and sometimes long hospital stays.

Whether it's covering monthly bills, rent, and other essentials during extended hospital stays or providing the expertise needed to gain and maintain meaningful, remote employment, Claire’s Place is always listening to the CF community and finding better ways to support them. Claire’s family and the foundation’s board members proudly continue to carry Claire’s remarkable legacy forward with your support.
