Finding Hope During Amora’s Hospital Stay

When four-year-old Amora was admitted for a two-week hospital stay due to complications from cystic fibrosis, her parents, Thalia and her partner, faced an impossible situation. Both are self-employed, and the unexpected time away from work meant that rent and bills quickly began piling up.

“As both of us are self-employed, this unexpected time away from work has caused a major setback with our rent and bills. Financial support would ease this burden and allow us to focus fully on our daughter’s care and recovery,” Thalia shared.

The stress of keeping their small business afloat while managing Amora’s care left the family overwhelmed. That’s when Claire’s Place Foundation stepped in. Through our Extended Hospital Stay Grant Program, we were able to cover a month of rent, giving Thalia and her partner the relief they needed to stay by Amora’s side without the added pressure of financial instability.

Thalia expressed her gratitude, saying programs like this give families the chance to focus on what truly matters: their child’s health. “As a small business family with a child who has CF, the unexpected highs and lows of this disease bring a lot of anxiety and stress. Having a program to help during those hard times relieves so much of that added stress and allows us to focus on our child’s health.”

Thanks to your support, Amora’s family could be fully present during her recovery, and her story is a powerful reminder of why our work is so vital.
