Meet Elijah: A Recent Extended Hospital Stay Grant Recipient
Michaela and her husband have 2 young children with cystic fibrosis, both under the age of 3, which can be a full-time job in and of itself. Over the last year, they have had 6 combined hospital admissions making it very difficult for the family to keep up with monthly expenses coupled with extended hospital stay costs like food, housing, travel to their local hospital, and child care.
Currently, Elijah is hospitalized recovering from surgery and the family will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. We were grateful to receive a referral from their social worker in order to provide them with an Extended Hospital Stay Grant to cover their rent and car payment for the month of February. I love it that Claire’s Place Foundation is a respected resource for families like this. I know Claire would be so proud of the good work her organization continues to do!
Elijah’s mother writes:
How, specifically, has Claire’s Place Foundation helped you and your family?
“Claire’s place foundation allowed us to focus on our baby and not worry about falling behind on our bills for where we live and our main source of transportation.”
Can you please provide a few sentences, in your own words, describing your situation and your feelings about receiving this grant that we can use on our website and in our newsletter?
“When your child has to undergo surgery and stay in the hospital, the last thing you want is to have to worry about paying your bills because of drained funds from your hospital stay. Your heart stops, trying to think about how you are going to pay your bills when your paying ridiculous amounts of money on food and a place to stay. Receiving this grant gives us relief and allows us to focus on what’s most important, our baby.”
Thank you to all who support Claire’s Place so that we can continue supporting our CF community.
