A Little Less Worry, A Lot More Hope: Isaiah's Story

For Stephanie and her family, raising a child with cystic fibrosis means navigating challenges that go far beyond medical appointments and treatments.

Her son Isaiah lives with CF, requiring ongoing medical care, breathing treatments, nutritional support and occasional hospitalizations. Like so many CF families, Stephanie and her husband do everything they can to make sure Isaiah receives the care he needs while also raising their other son and managing the everyday responsibilities of family life.

But the financial demands can be overwhelming.

When Medical Challenges Affect the Whole Family

Between frequent trips to Isaiah's CF care center, hospital stays, medications, specialized nutrition and time away from work, the additional expenses can quickly add up.

During hospitalizations, the family often spends days away from home while still trying to keep up with their regular household expenses and the needs of both children.

As Stephanie explained:

"CF doesn't just affect a child's health, it affects the entire family financially, emotionally, and physically."

When the financial strain became especially difficult, Stephanie turned to Claire's Place Foundation's Extended Hospital Stay Grant Program for help.

A Little Breathing Room

Through the generosity of our donors, Claire's Place Foundation was able to provide rental assistance, helping the family maintain stability during a challenging time.

For Stephanie, that support meant so much more than one less bill to worry about.

"This grant helped us during a difficult time to be able to have our rent paid and keep our roof over our heads so we can protect Isaiah."

With their housing expenses covered for the month, the family could direct more of their attention and resources toward Isaiah's health and the needs of their children.

Knowing You're Not Alone

One of the most meaningful parts of Stephanie's story is how she describes the emotional impact of receiving support from a community that understands what her family is going through.

"For our family, knowing that there are people and organizations within the CF community who understand what we're going through means more than I can put into words."

For families navigating cystic fibrosis, financial assistance can provide something that's difficult to measure: reassurance that they don't have to face every challenge alone.

Stephanie put it beautifully:

"Sometimes just knowing we're not alone makes a huge difference. This kind of support gives families hope, breathing room, and the ability to keep moving forward when CF feels overwhelming."

Helping Families Focus on What Matters Most

At Claire's Place Foundation, we know that a child's hospitalization affects the entire family. Parents shouldn't have to worry about losing their housing while trying to be present for their children during medical crises.

Our Extended Hospital Stay Grant Program helps ease that burden by providing direct assistance with rent or mortgage payments during qualifying extended hospital stays or home IV treatments.

For Isaiah's family, that meant keeping a roof over their heads and having a little more room to focus on what mattered most: their children.

Your support makes stories like Isaiah's possible. Every donation helps us provide stability, relief and hope to more families living with cystic fibrosis when they need it most.
