WPP Volunteer Spotlight: Ira Disman
"Confidence comes from preparation, and preparation is one of the greatest gifts we can give someone pursuing a new opportunity."
That is exactly what Ira Disman brings to the Work Proudly Program.
With more than 25 years of experience in recruiting and talent acquisition, Ira launched Cornerstone Career Advising in 2024 to help job seekers navigate career transitions with clarity and confidence. He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Babson College and an MBA in Human Resources from Drexel University. He is also actively involved in several professional career development associations and regularly shares his expertise through presentations, articles, and volunteer service.
Ira's favorite career topics include networking, LinkedIn optimization, artificial intelligence in job search, resume development, interviewing, and offer negotiations. While his professional knowledge is impressive, what stands out most is his willingness to invest that knowledge in others.
Through Claire's Place Foundation's Work Proudly Program, Ira volunteers his time to support adults living with cystic fibrosis as they pursue meaningful and sustainable employment.
One participant recently came to the program facing a major career transition. After years in the beauty industry, she was preparing to interview for a telecommunications position that would provide greater flexibility and reduce the health risks associated with constant public interaction.
Ira worked closely with her to strengthen her interview skills, prepare thoughtful responses to common questions, and connect her own values and experiences to the organization's mission. He introduced new tools for interview practice, helped tailor her preparation to the specific role, and provided the encouragement needed to walk into the interview with confidence.
The result? She got the job.
Success stories like these are a reminder that career transitions are about much more than resumes and applications. They are about confidence, opportunity, and having someone who believes in your potential.
When I see volunteers like Ira sharing their expertise so generously, I am reminded that none of this work happens alone. It truly takes a community.
We are deeply grateful for Ira's commitment to the Work Proudly Program and the life-changing impact he continues to have on our participants.
Thank you, Ira, for helping our clients prepare, believe in themselves, and take the next step toward their goals.
