Eight Years Later, Her Impact Continues
Eight years ago today
September 2, 2018 we lost our founder to cystic fibrosis. But while Claire’s time was cut short, her impact wasn’t.
There are days when that still feels impossible to say. We will always wish she had been given more time. More time to live, more time to help, more time to make a difference.
But while Claire’s time was cut short, her impact wasn’t.
I love this image because, to me, it tells that story better than words ever could. Look closely and Claire is made up of hundreds of photographs of people whose lives she touched. Families she encouraged. People with cystic fibrosis who felt seen and understood. A community she helped bring together.
And eight years later, that circle continues to grow.
Through Claire’s Place, families facing long hospital stays receive help keeping their rent and bills paid. Young adults with cystic fibrosis are finding their way toward meaningful careers and greater independence. And people who never had the chance to know Claire personally are still discovering her story and being inspired by the way she chose to live.
Claire wanted her life to mean something. She wanted to make things better for people going through what she understood so well.
Eight years later, we are still carrying that forward.
Today, we remember Claire. We miss her terribly. And we are incredibly grateful for every person who continues to be part of what she started.
